Ceramic Lined Steel Pipe – Bonding Process and Application Scenarios

Ceramic lined steel pipes are manufactured using an epoxy resin adhesive bonding process: first, alumina ceramic raw materials are sintered at high temperature to form integral ceramic tubes; then, the inner wall of the steel pipe is prepared by rust removal and surface roughening; after applying a dedicated epoxy resin adhesive to the ceramic tube, it is inserted into the steel pipe, and the adhesive layer is fully filled into the gap between the ceramic tube’s outer wall and the steel pipe’s inner wall under curing pressure. After curing, a stable bonding interface is formed, ensuring that the ceramic tube and steel pipe become an integral unit. This process avoids localized defects caused by ceramic tile patching or welding, ensuring the continuity and integrity of the lining layer.

The core advantage of this process lies in the epoxy resin adhesive layer’s excellent bonding strength, flexibility, and media resistance. The adhesive layer not only firmly bonds the ceramic and steel substrate but also absorbs micro-deformations caused by temperature fluctuations and pressure changes during operation, providing a buffering effect. The ceramic lining surface is smooth and highly hard, making it particularly suitable for both pneumatic conveying and slurry pumping. The product can be custom-manufactured according to parameters such as nominal pipe diameter, length, flange connection type, and operating temperature to meet the specific needs of different working conditions.

In practical applications, ceramic lined steel pipes are widely used for conveying pulverized coal, ash, slag, ore powder, tailings, limestone powder, cement clinker powder, and chemical media containing hard particles. In thermal power plants, they are used in dry ash removal systems and wet desulfurization slurry discharge pipelines; in the mining industry, for long-distance tailings conveying and backfill pipelines; in metallurgy, for high-temperature ore powder and dust collection pipelines; in the chemical industry, for pipelines conveying catalyst particles or crystallizing media. The product performs stably in severe wear conditions, effectively reducing pipeline replacement frequency and maintenance costs.
