Wear-resistant Alumina Ceramic Tiles Performance Parameters and Applications

Wear-resistant alumina ceramic tiles are functional ceramic products made from high-purity aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃) through pressing and high-temperature sintering. Their Al₂O₃ content is typically 92%, 95%, or 99%, with density ranging from 3.60 g/cm³ to 3.90 g/cm³ and water absorption below 0.01%. The material exhibits high hardness and good chemical stability, suitable for industrial scenarios involving impact, sliding friction, and corrosive media.

Typical performance parameters: Mohs hardness of 9, Rockwell hardness HRA 85-90, and wear resistance 20-30 times that of ordinary carbon steel (volume wear ≤0.05 cm³ per ASTM G65 dry sand rubber wheel test). Flexural strength reaches 250-350 MPa, thermal conductivity approx. 25-30 W/(m·K), and operating temperature range from -50 °C to 1200 °C (depending on specific grade). These data ensure long-term reliability under high-wear and high-temperature conditions.

The product is widely used for wear protection in key equipment across cement, steel, power, mining, and coal industries, such as classifier blades, chutes, pipe elbows, cyclones, and hopper linings. Installation methods include epoxy resin bonding, bolting, or welding (using pre-drilled ceramic tiles combined with rubber/steel plates). Standard thickness ranges from 5 mm to 25 mm; common tile sizes include 10 mm×10 mm, 20 mm×20 mm, and 50 mm×50 mm square or hexagonal shapes for easy on-site cutting and layout.

Using wear-resistant alumina ceramic tiles significantly extends equipment service life and reduces downtime for maintenance. Field data show that under identical operating conditions, ceramic linings last 3-8 times longer than high-manganese steel or wear-resistant alloy steel plates. The product is non-magnetic, resistant to acid/alkali corrosion (except hydrofluoric acid and hot concentrated alkali), and does not contaminate materials. Selection should determine Al₂O₃ content and tile thickness based on actual impact angle, particle size, and temperature to achieve a balance between performance and cost.
